You cannot ride with a transport IC card: on board and at unstaffed stations (or staffed stations outside window hours) only cash is accepted. Since 22 Jan 2025 the windows at Yatsushiro, Sashiki, Minamata, Izumi, Akune and Sendai accept credit cards, transport IC cards, nanaco and Rakuten Edy to buy tickets (Hinagu Onsen: PayPay). P

Only on announced dates: the train was suspended from August 2026 and runs again for a limited time on 21 and 28 Nov and 5, 12, 20 and 26 Dec 2026 (about one day a week). The general page still says Saturdays and Sundays; no runs are announced after 26 Dec 2026
