Good to know
- Ryugamizu station (Nippo Line between Kagoshima and Shigetomi) does not take IC cards, although trains through it are inside the area.
- Hisatsu Orange Railway (at Sendai) does not take SUGOCA: pay at the station or on board.
- SUGOCA (and other IC card) balance cannot pay for the Kyushu or Nishi-Kyushu Shinkansen: buy a ticket.
- At unstaffed stations, always tap the simple SUGOCA reader when you enter and when you leave.
