Every Hanshin station has IC-card ticket gates (Higashi-Naruo and Sunosaki have simple IC-only gates), and the nationwide transport IC cards work: ICOCA, Kitaca, manaca, TOICA, PASMO, Suica, Hayakaken, nimoca and SUGOCA (top up first at a ticket machine or fare adjustment machine), plus the post-pay PiTaPa card. Mobile Suica, Mobile PASMO and Mobile ICOCA also work at the gates. ICOCA (¥2,000 incl. ¥500 deposit) is sold at station ticket machines. Use one card per touch and do not combine an IC card with a paper ticket. Paper tickets can be bought with cash only (not with IC cards or credit cards). Contactless credit/debit/prepaid cards and phones (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay) work at the gates of every Hanshin line (Main Line Osaka-Umeda–Motomachi, Hanshin Namba Line Osaka-Namba–Amagasaki, Mukogawa Line, Kobe Kosoku Line Motomachi–Nishidai), at the adult fare only: no child or disability fares, no commuter passes, one card per person. P
Applies at every Hanshin station: pay at the ticket gate before boarding.
Paper ticket: buy it at the ticket machine with cash (tickets cannot be bought with IC cards, credit cards or QR payment).
IC card (ICOCA, PiTaPa, Suica, PASMO and other nationwide cards, or a mobile Suica/PASMO/ICOCA): touch the gate reader firmly for at least one second. Keep only one IC card in your pass case.
Contactless credit/debit card or phone: touch the separate touch-payment reader on the automatic gate. At Higashi-Naruo and Sunosaki, which have no automatic gates, touch the dedicated reader installed at the station.
Do not combine an IC card or contactless card with a paper ticket, coupon ticket or pass.
If no staff are at the gate, use the gate intercom (most stations have one) to reach staff.
Getting off
Leave through the ticket gate, touching the same IC card or contactless card you entered with.
IC card (not PiTaPa) without enough balance: top it up at the fare adjustment machine (のりこし精算機, from ¥10) at your destination, then touch the gate to exit. PiTaPa settles any extra fare automatically at the gate.
Contactless credit/debit card: you are charged the adult single fare; continuing onto other companies' lines is possible where they also accept touch payment (some only at certain stations).
Wheelchair assistance
Wheelchair users: tell staff at the station ticket window or call them with the gate intercom when you travel; there may be a wait when staff are away. Calling the station master's office beforehand (8:00–21:00 every day) makes help smoother. Station master's offices: Osaka-Umeda 06-6457-2267, Amagasaki 06-6411-0281, Koshien 0798-48-1500, Mikage 078-851-2816, Kobe-Sannomiya 078-221-1254, Shinkaichi 078-575-5061. Timetables, fares and general enquiries: Hanshin Transport Dept. Sales Section 06-6457-2258 (9:00–17:00, closed weekends, holidays and New Year). Wide wheelchair gates (900 mm) are installed at most stations. Tel. 06-6457-2267

Big stationsOsaka / Umeda: lines, transfers, lockers and step-free routes JR calls its station Osaka (大阪); Hankyu, Hanshin and Osaka Metro call theirs Umeda (梅田, 大阪梅田, 東梅田, 西梅田). They are separate stations joined by streets and underground passages, so you leave one operator's gates and walk to the next.

In order along the main route; branch stations, if any, are listed at the end. English names and readings where OpenStreetMap has them.
