IC cards and payment in detail

Transport IC cards can be used on the Fujikyu line (Ōtsuki - Kawaguchiko): the operator publishes separate IC fares, charged to the yen since 1 October 2019 and different from paper-ticket fares, and its station guide has a notice for Suica and PASMO users. The line is not in the PASMO operator list; it belongs to the Suica area (nimoca's mutual-use table lists 富士山麓電気鉄道 under Suica), and PASMO says all 10 nationwide IC cards can be used in the Suica area. The operator's own Suica notice confirms that Suica and the other nationwide transport IC cards (e.g. PASMO) work on the line. With an IC card you cannot break your journey on the way. Charge machines on the line work only while the station window is open, take ¥1,000, ¥2,000 and ¥5,000 notes, give no change and cannot charge mobile IC cards; ticket machines at Ōtsuki (JR side), Kasei, Tsurushi, Fujisan and Kawaguchiko can also charge. Whether every station takes IC cards was not stated explicitly. Contactless credit card touch is not confirmed. P

Getting on

IC card (Suica, PASMO or another nationwide card): touch the reader of the gate or simple card reader firmly when you enter.
Changing from JR at Ōtsuki: with an IC card only, touch the gate at the transfer gate. With a JR ticket with a black magnetic back, put it through the transfer gate (not limited express tickets). With other tickets, use the staffed passage and show them. With no ticket for the JR side, go out through the main gate and buy one at the JR ticket counter.

Getting off

Touch the same IC card on the reader when you leave. IC card trips allow no stopover on the way.
Paper ticket: if you rode beyond the section of your ticket, pay the difference; any excess is not refunded. Single, return and coupon tickets do not allow stopovers: getting off on the way voids the rest of the ticket.
On through trains to or from JR without a ticket for both companies, ask the staff at your destination station or the conductor.
