IC cards and payment in detail

Touch your IC card at the gate. The monorail issues its own mono SUGOCA (¥500 deposit), which also works across Japan (SUGOCA, Hayakaken, nimoca, Kitaca, Suica, PASMO, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa areas). Station machines and windows also top up other transport IC cards such as SUGOCA and nimoca. No transfer discounts with other operators. Credit cards only for commuter passes at the Kokura Station pass office. P

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket at the station machine (paper QR ticket), or use an IC card.
  2. QR ticket: hold the QR code face down over the yellow reader at the gate.
  3. Fares are ¥100 (Kokura – Heiwadōri) to ¥380; children half.

Getting off

  1. At the exit gate, touch the QR code on the yellow reader again, then put the ticket into the slot that opens.
  2. If you rode beyond your ticket, tell the staff at the exit station and pay the difference.
