IC cards and payment in detail

IC cards cannot be used on the Kishigawa Line. Pay in cash on board or at the Wakayama (platform 9), Idakiso or Kishi windows; at Idakiso commuter passes can also be paid by PayPay or LINE Pay. P

Getting on

  1. Trains are one-man, 2 cars. Board by the rear door of the first car; the second car's doors stay shut (except on some weekday morning trains and at Wakayama, where all doors open).
  2. At intermediate stations board at the door near the coupling where the numbered-ticket machine is and take a numbered ticket (整理券). None is issued at Wakayama or Kishi. Without a numbered ticket you pay the fare from the first station.

Getting off

  1. Get off by the front door of the first car, by the driver (except at Wakayama).
  2. Put your ticket, or the cash fare plus the numbered ticket, into the fare box at the front of the first car. Check the fare on the display at the front of the car. Show passes and one-day tickets (date side) to the driver together with the numbered ticket.
  3. The change machine is at the front of the car (only the one at the front in the direction of travel); change money before your stop.
  4. At Wakayama all doors open and tickets are checked on the platform: give your ticket or fare and numbered ticket to the staff and take the fare-paid slip (精算済証) to pass the JR automatic gates.
