IC cards and payment in detail

PASMO, Suica and the other eight nationwide transport IC cards work at every station between Akihabara and Tsukuba; all are charged the 1-yen IC fare. Contactless credit/debit/prepaid cards (and phones with them) can also be touched at the gates (see below). P

Getting on

Use an IC card (PASMO, Suica or another nationwide card), buy a ticket at the ticket machine, or touch a contactless credit/debit card or phone on the gate's touch-payment reader.
Contactless card: hold it on the touch-payment reader for at least one second. It works at every station except the Toei Ōedo Line transfer gate at Shin-okachimachi (B3) and the Kokage Terrace gate at Nagareyama-ōtakanomori.
Contactless cards are charged the adult fare (no child fare) and can only be used by the cardholder.

Getting off

Leave through the automatic gate with the same IC card, ticket, or the same contactless card or device you entered with (not the same card number on a different phone or watch).
If you rode further than your ticket covers, pay the difference before leaving.
