IC cards and payment in detail

On the railway lines only Toyama Chitetsu's own ecomyca IC card works; Suica, ICOCA, PASMO and other nationwide cards cannot be used (they work only on the city trams). With ecomyca, touch the reader both when you enter (board) and when you leave (get off); if you miss a touch, the card gives an error next time and must be cleared at a window. P

※Suica・ICOCA・PASMO等はご利用できません。

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket or free pass at the ticket machine or window in the station, and show it to the staff at the gate (show the date on a free pass).
  2. All doors open at staffed stations: board by any door after checking the destination on the front of the train.
  3. Limited express trains need a limited-express ticket in addition to the fare. Staffing differs by weekday/holiday and time of day.

Getting off

  1. All doors open: get off by the nearest door and hand your ticket to the station staff.

Getting on

  1. Tickets are not sold at unstaffed stations: go straight to the platform and wait near the boarding sign.
  2. Only the first car's doors open. Board by the rear door of the first car and take a numbered ticket (整理券) from the machine by the door.

Getting off

  1. When your station is announced, check the fare on the fare display at the front of the first car: the number under your boarding station is the adult fare (children half, rounded up to ¥10).
  2. Change ¥1,000 notes and coins at the machines at the front and back of the car while the train is stopped (¥5,000 and ¥10,000 notes cannot be changed).
  3. Put the numbered ticket and the exact fare into the fare slot at the front (no change given); show the date on a free pass to the driver. Then get off by the front door.
