IC cards and payment in detail
All seats are reserved, so you cannot just touch in with an IC card. When buying a same-day ticket at the Torokko Saga, Torokko Arashiyama or Torokko Kameoka station window you can pay in cash, by credit card (VISA, Mastercard, JCB, Diners, American Express, Discover) or with a transport IC card such as ICOCA or Suica (not PiTaPa). Online advance tickets are paid by credit card. P
Every seat is reserved. Buy online from 0:00 one month before the travel date (credit card; up to 8 people), or buy a same-day ticket at the Torokko Saga (from about 8:35), Torokko Arashiyama (about 8:50) or Torokko Kameoka (about 9:10) window — first come, first served. Torokko Hozukyo has no ticket sales.
When reserved seats are sold out, a limited number of same-day standing tickets are sold at the stations.
Online tickets: open the e-ticket in My Page and show its QR code to the staff at the gate, then take your assigned seat.
Car 5 ("Rich" car) has no window glass: you may get wet when it rains, and no refunds are given for that.
Wheelchair assistance
For wheelchair space, a ramp between train and platform (door opening 65 cm) or staff guidance, contact Torokko Saga Station (075-871-3997) or send the inquiry form by fax well before the trip; buy your own advance ticket first and it is exchanged for a wheelchair-space ticket at the window on the day.
