IC cards and payment in detail
The local IC card ですか (DESUCA) works on the trams: touch the reader by the entrance when you board and the reader by the exit when you get off (no numbered ticket needed). The operator's pages do not mention nationwide IC cards (Suica, ICOCA etc.) or contactless credit cards, so their use is not confirmed: carry cash. P

How to ride from here P
Getting on
Check the destination on the sign at the front or back of the tram.
Board through the entrance, the rear door (in the direction of travel).
Paying cash or using a paper one-day ticket: take a numbered ticket (整理券 seiriken) near the entrance. Between Sanbashi and Kōchi-ekimae no numbered ticket is needed.
Using a ですか IC card: touch it on the card reader near the entrance instead.
Getting off
As your stop approaches, press a stop button (降車ボタン) by the windows. On two-person cars (such as the foreign-built trams) there is no button: tell the conductor.
Get off through the exit, the front door (in the direction of travel). The fare is paid when you get off.
Cash: check the fare for your numbered ticket on the display, then put the fare and the numbered ticket into the fare box by the exit. No change is given: use the changer by the front door first (it takes ¥1,000 notes only).
ですか IC card: touch the card reader by the exit.
One-day ticket: put the numbered ticket into the fare box and show the driver the date on your ticket.
