- Any holder of a non-Japanese passport (show the original passport when exchanging or buying; residence cards or copies are not accepted).
- Format
- Magnetic paper pass for automatic gates; seat reservations are separate free tickets.
- When it is sold
- Sold throughout the year. Pre-purchase price applies to JR-EAST Train Reservation and overseas exchange orders; buying at a station in Hokkaido costs more.

Is it worth it?
Add the normal one-way fares of the rides you plan within 5 days (from the fare charts at stations or a route planner).
Express, seat and Green car charges are usually not included in a pass: leave them out of the fares too unless the pass covers them.
How to use it
- Pre-purchase on JR-EAST Train Reservation or from a travel agent outside Japan, then collect the pass with your passport at a designated JR Hokkaido counter; or buy it there directly (cash in yen or credit card).
- Get a free reserved seat ticket before boarding limited expresses (all JR Hokkaido limited expresses are all-reserved); if full you may stand on most of them.
- Put only the pass through the automatic gate (not the seat ticket) and take it back.
- On JR Hokkaido Bus local routes, take a numbered ticket when boarding and show the pass with it to the driver when getting off.
- The SL Fuyu-no-Shitsugen train needs a separately bought reserved seat ticket.
- Carry your passport and show it with the pass when asked.
