Getting on
Contactless card (VISA, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, Mastercard, UnionPay) or a phone set up with one: touch the boarding reader at the station gate or inside the train; wait for the melody and "○PASS". Only on rapid and local trains — not on limited expresses (not even non-reserved seats) and not on some local/rapid trains.
QR tickets bought in an app: hold the QR code over the QR reader installed on Tantetsu.
Special tickets (passes) must be bought before boarding; buying one after boarding means paying the full fare to your destination first.
Getting off
Contactless card: touch the alighting reader at the station gate or on the train; the screen shows the fare and payment is complete.
