IC cards and payment in detail

Touch Shizutetsu's own LuLuCa card or a nationwide transport IC card on the automatic gate. The page lists the accepted nationwide cards only as an image, so check the logos at the gate. Nationwide cards can be topped up at Shizutetsu ticket machines (not at Irieoka) and at the Shin-Shizuoka, Kusanagi and Shin-Shimizu windows, but cannot be used to buy tickets, and one card pays for one person only. If the balance is too low when you get off, you pay the fare from your boarding station in cash and the card must be processed later. Contactless credit-card touch works only at 5 stations (see cEMV). P

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket at the ticket machine, or touch LuLuCa or a nationwide transport IC card on the automatic gate.
  2. Contactless credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay; since 23 March 2026): touch it on the dedicated reader on the automatic gate, but only at Shin-Shizuoka, Kenso-Undojo (Pref. Sports Park), Kusanagi, Sakurabashi and Shin-Shimizu. If you get off at another station, you pay the fare in cash there.
  3. At unstaffed stations, call the staff with the intercom by the gate if you need help (for example to buy a discounted ticket).

Getting off

  1. Put your ticket through the automatic gate, or touch the same IC card or credit card you entered with.
  2. IC card with too little balance: you pay the whole fare from your boarding station in cash, and the card needs to be processed later.
