IC cards and payment in detail

Hokusei Line (Nishi-Kuwana – Ageki) only: since 1 March 2025 you can touch ICOCA and the other nationwide transport IC cards at the IC gates of every station (PiTaPa post-pay cannot be used). The automatic gates on the Hokusei Line take only IC cards. IC cards cannot be used on the Sangi Line (Kintetsu-Tomida – Nishi-Fujiwara, including the link to Kintetsu-Tomida): buy a paper ticket. P

Getting on

  1. Sangi Line: Sangi Line trains leave from platform 3 of Kintetsu-Tomida station. Every Sangi Line station except Nishi-Nojiri has a ticket window open 6:50–20:30: buy a paper ticket there (IC cards are not accepted on this line).
  2. Hokusei Line: Hokusei Line trains leave from Nishi-Kuwana station, about 120 m west of the JR/Kintetsu Kuwana gates. Touch your IC card on the IC gate when you enter. ICOCA can be bought and charged at the staffed windows (Nishi-Kuwana, Hoshikawa, Toin, Sohara, Ageki); IC charge machines are installed at every station.

Getting on

  1. Hokusei Line: touch your IC card on the IC gate at the station when you enter.
  2. Sangi Line with a one-day pass: at an unstaffed station, show the date on the pass to the train crew when you get on or off.
