IC cards and payment in detail

PASMO, and Suica through mutual use, work at the gates. Stations without automatic gates have simple readers with separate entry and exit pads: touch the right one. Charging and fare adjustment are possible only at staffed stations; if your balance runs short at an unstaffed station, settle later at a staffed one. One card per person. Auto-charge cannot be applied for here. P

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket at the station (each station sells tickets from that station; valid on the day of purchase), or use PASMO/Suica.
  2. IC card: touch the gate reader for about 1 second until it beeps. At stations without automatic gates, touch the entry pad of the simple reader.
  3. Coupon tickets were discontinued at the end of 2022.

Getting off

  1. IC card: touch the exit gate or the exit pad of the simple reader. If the balance is short, the gate closes: charge or pay at a staffed station.
  2. If you rode beyond your ticket, pay the difference.
