IC cards and payment in detail

Suica and the other transport IC cards cannot be used on Isumi Railway. Pay cash on board, or buy a ticket from the machine at Ōhara or Ōtaki. IMPORTANT: trains have not run since a derailment on 4 October 2024; replacement transport runs instead. The operator aims to reopen Ōhara – Ōtaki around autumn 2027; for Ōtaki – Kazusa-Nakano the cost and timing of repairs were still being studied. P

Getting on

  1. Note: train service has been suspended since October 2024 (replacement transport runs); these steps describe normal train operation.
  2. Board through the rear door of the railcar and take a numbered ticket (整理券).
  3. At Ōhara and Ōtaki you can instead buy a ticket from the ticket machine before boarding. Return tickets are not sold.

Getting off

  1. Pay the fare into the fare box next to the driver when you get off; try to have the exact amount ready (avoid needing change).
