IC cards and payment in detail

The nationwide transport IC cards (Kitaca, PASMO, Suica, manaca, TOICA, PiTaPa, ICOCA, Hayakaken, nimoca, SUGOCA) work. Touch the boarding reader on the right after getting on through the rear door, and the alighting reader on the fare box by the driver when you get off (at Tennōji-ekimae, touch at the fare collection point after leaving the tram). When changing trams at Abikomichi or Sumiyoshi, touch off and on again: no transfer ticket is needed. Credit cards, QR-code payments and e-money cannot be used. P

Getting on

  1. Check the destination before boarding. Hankai trams are 'board at the rear, get off at the front'.
  2. Board through the rear door. There are no numbered tickets.
  3. IC card: touch the boarding reader on the right after you get on.
  4. Cash: have coins or ¥1,000 notes ready (larger notes may not be accepted). The changer by the driver changes ¥1,000 notes into coins.

Getting off

  1. When your stop is announced on the screen or by voice, press the stop button (降車ボタン) to tell the driver.
  2. Pay at the fare box by the driver and get off through the front door. The fare is flat: adult ¥240, child ¥120.
  3. IC card: touch the alighting reader on the fare box by the driver.
  4. At Tennōji-ekimae only: get off first and pay (or touch your IC card) at the fare collection point.
  5. Changing trams with cash: change only at the designated transfer stops on the shortest route (Abikomichi or Sumiyoshi); pay there and take a transfer ticket (乗換券), then take the next tram to your destination.
  6. One-day tickets and commuter passes: show them to the driver as you get off.
Wheelchair assistance

Depending on the stop, staff may need to be arranged for wheelchair users; contacting the Operations Office (運輸区) in advance allows a quick response. The timetable marks the departures run by low-floor (non-step) cars. Tel. 06-6671-5170
