IC cards and payment in detail
TOICA and all nationwide mutual-use transport IC cards work on the Aikan Line. At Okazaki, everyone using an IC card on the Aikan Line must touch the IC gate on the Aikan platform (platform 0), even when changing to/from JR; otherwise a wrong fare may be deducted. If you forgot, do not touch at your exit station: tell the staff or crew. P

Getting on
Buy a ticket at the ticket machine, or use an IC card. Through tickets to nearby JR stations (Tokaido, Chuo, Kansai, Taita and Taketoyo lines) can be bought at the machine: choose the Okazaki/Kozoji transfer or other-company button.
At Okazaki: touch the pink/blue IC gate on platform 0 when you board the Aikan Line, including when you change from JR. If you combine an IC card with a paper or magnetic ticket, go out and in through the upstairs gate.
Credit cards are not accepted for payment: pay in cash.
Some stations are unstaffed all day; ticket machines and IC charge machines work only during station hours.
Getting off
Put your ticket through the gate or touch your IC card when you leave.
