IC cards and payment in detail

PASMO and Suica work at every station of the Blue Line and Green Line, and so do the other nationwide transport IC cards (Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa, Hayakaken, nimoca, SUGOCA). The pink gates take PASMO/Suica-type IC cards only, not paper tickets. Contactless credit, debit and prepaid cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay) and phones with such cards also work at all 40 stations: touch the dedicated reader on the gate; no registration needed. Touch payment is charged at adult IC fares only (no child or discount fares), with a daily cap of ¥740 per card and device. Some cards issued abroad may not work. P

※PASMO、Suicaのほか、全国相互利用を行う交通系ICカードでもご乗車いただけます。

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket from the ticket machine (it also sells one-day tickets and PASMO cards and charges PASMO), or use an IC card or a contactless credit/debit card.
  2. Use a gate showing an arrow. Paper ticket: put it in the slot and take it back as you pass. PASMO, Suica or another transport IC card: touch the reader. The pink gates are for IC cards only.
  3. Contactless credit/debit card or phone: take the card out of your wallet and touch the dedicated reader on the gate until it responds.

Getting off

  1. Leave through the gate the same way: put the ticket in (single tickets are kept by the gate; one-day tickets come back out), or touch the same IC card or credit card you entered with.
  2. If your fare is short: with a paper ticket, pay the difference at the fare adjustment machine (some stations only; elsewhere staff at the staffed gate) and use the adjustment ticket to exit. With PASMO/Suica, charge the card at a charge or fare adjustment machine, then touch the gate.
