IC cards and payment in detail

The local SAPICA and the nationwide cards (Kitaca, PASMO, Suica, manaca, TOICA, PiTaPa, ICOCA, Hayakaken, nimoca, SUGOCA) work. Touch your card only when you get off; there is nothing to touch when boarding. The subway transfer discount is applied automatically with an IC card. Top-ups on board: ¥1,000 notes only, one at a time, while the tram is stopped (ask the crew). Since 27 April 2026 contactless credit, debit and prepaid cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay) and phones are also accepted: touch the dedicated reader when getting off (adult ¥230, child ¥120; no subway transfer fare; tell the driver before touching if paying for several people, a child or a welfare discount). On Saturdays, Sundays, holidays and 29 Dec–3 Jan, adult card fares are capped at ¥460 per day per card. P
