IC cards and payment in detail

PASMO, Suica and the other nationwide transport IC cards (Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa, Hayakaken, nimoca, SUGOCA) work at every station on the Odakyu Odawara, Enoshima and Tama lines. Touch the card on the automatic gate when you enter and when you leave. IC fares are charged to the yen (paper tickets are rounded to ¥10). With a child IC card a child pays a flat ¥50 per ride anywhere on Odakyu. PASMO notes that a few lines in the nationwide area do not take every card. Contactless credit/debit cards and phones (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, UnionPay) also work at the gates of every Odakyu station, at the adult fare only, except at the JR transfer gates at Shinjuku, Atsugi and Fujisawa. Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket at the ticket machine (券売機) with cash or an IC card, or use an IC card such as PASMO or Suica, or a contactless credit/debit card or phone.
  2. Enter through the automatic ticket gate (自動改札機). IC card: touch it on the gate reader. Contactless card or phone: hold it over the separate touch-payment reader on the gate; you do not need to buy a ticket first.
  3. Contactless cards do not work at the JR transfer gates at Shinjuku, Atsugi and Fujisawa: use an IC card or a ticket there.
  4. Romancecar limited expresses are all reserved seats: buy a limited express ticket (特急券) before boarding, and carry a fare ticket, IC card or free pass as well.

Getting off

  1. Leave through the automatic ticket gate, touching the same IC card you entered with.
  2. If you rode further than your ticket covers, pay the difference in fare before you leave; any excess is not refunded.
  3. Contactless credit/debit card or phone: touch the same card or the same device you entered with (a card and the phone holding that card count as different). You pay the ordinary adult fare: there are no child or disability fares, no connecting discounts, and the card cannot be used to pay a fare adjustment.
  4. Since 25 March 2026 one touch-in/touch-out also covers trips continuing onto the Hakone Tozan line (some stations), Keio, Keikyu, Sotetsu, Seibu, Tokyu, Tokyo Metro, Toei subway, Tobu and Minatomirai lines (some of their stations excluded). You cannot ride on to JR East or any other company's line with a contactless card: use an IC card instead.
Wheelchair assistance

Odakyu Customer Center (小田急お客さまセンター), 9:00–17:00 every day. To have staff help you board (for example with a wheelchair), tell the Customer Center or a main station your travel date and time in advance and staff will be there; without notice, use the intercom near the ticket gates and wait for staff. At some stations staff are only present at certain hours: each station's page gives the hours and the number to call.
