IC cards and payment in detail

Nationwide transport IC cards (the operator sells nimoca) work on all trams. Touch the boarding reader when you get on (middle or rear door) and the reader beside the driver's seat when you get off. With an IC card or contactless credit card, a ride of up to 2 sections costs ¥110 (child ¥60), and a second ride is free when you change trams at a designated transfer stop within 30 minutes; both need a touch when boarding and alighting, one card per person. Cash riders get no transfer. P

ご利用いただけるお支払い方法は、全国相互利用交通系ICカード、クレカ乗車(クレジットカード等)、現金となります。

Getting on

  1. Check the route number and destination shown on the front of the tram.
  2. Board through the middle or rear door. There are no numbered tickets.
  3. IC card or contactless credit card: always touch the boarding reader as you get on (needed for the short-ride and transfer discounts).
  4. Cash, one-day ticket or mobile ticket: just board.

Getting off

  1. As your stop approaches, press the stop button (降車ボタン).
  2. Get off through the front door. The fare is flat: adult ¥150, child ¥80, wherever you ride.
  3. IC card or credit card: touch the alighting reader beside the driver's seat.
  4. Cash: put the exact fare into the fare box. No change is given: change money first at the fare boxes at the front and back of the car. Cash fares do not include transfers.
  5. Paper one-day ticket: show the date to the driver. Mobile ticket: show the ticket screen clearly to the driver (Pass Case app users touch the card or iPhone used to buy it on the readers instead).
Wheelchair assistance

Barrier-free trams (100% low floor, with wheelchair space) run to a dedicated published timetable, and their live position is shown on the operator's tram-location service. Stops marked with the wheelchair symbol can be used by wheelchair users. Tram inquiries: Operations Section (運転課). Tel. 095-845-4113
