IC cards and payment in detail

PASMO, Suica and the other nationwide transport IC cards (Kitaca, TOICA, manaca, ICOCA, PiTaPa, Hayakaken, nimoca, SUGOCA) work at every station on the Keio line, Takao, Sagamihara, Keibajo, Dobutsuen and Inokashira lines. Some services (for example auto-charge, or trips crossing between IC card areas) are not available with every card. Use only one card at the gate: two IC cards, or an IC card and a magnetic pass, cannot be combined. Contactless credit/debit/prepaid cards and phones also work at every Keio station, at the adult fare only, except at temporary gates and the JR transfer gates at Shinjuku, Bubaigawara and Takao. P

PASMOのほか、全国10のカード(Kitaca、Suica、manaca、PASMO、TOICA、ICOCA、PiTaPa、はやかけん、nimoca、SUGOCA)がご利用いただけます。

Getting on

  1. Buy a ticket at the ticket machine (券売機) with cash or an IC card, or use an IC card such as PASMO or Suica, or a contactless credit/debit card or phone.
  2. Enter through the automatic ticket gate (自動改札機). IC card: touch it on the gate reader; use one card only. Contactless card or phone: touch it on a gate that supports touch payment (タッチ決済乗車対応改札機). No registration is needed.
  3. Contactless cards do not work at temporary gates or at the JR transfer gates at Shinjuku, Bubaigawara and Takao: use an IC card or a ticket there.
  4. Express trains need no extra fare. Only the Keio Liner and Mt. TAKAO trains need a seat reservation ticket (座席指定券): inbound trains, and outbound trains when boarding at Shinjuku.

Getting off

  1. Leave through the automatic ticket gate, touching the same IC card you entered with.
  2. If your IC card balance or ticket does not cover the fare, charge the card or pay the difference at the fare adjustment machine (自動精算機) near the exit or at the station window. The machine gives you a ticket: put it through the automatic gate to leave.
  3. Contactless credit/debit card or phone: touch the same card you entered with. You pay the ordinary adult fare (also for children), no connecting discounts apply, and one card covers only its holder.
  4. Since 25 March 2026 one touch-in/touch-out also covers trips continuing onto Odakyu, the Hakone Tozan line, Keikyu, Sotetsu, Seibu, Tokyu, Tokyo Metro, Toei subway, Tobu and Minatomirai lines (some of their stations excluded). For any other company's line, use a ticket or an IC card.
