The nationwide transport IC cards (Suica, ICOCA and the others of the mutual-use scheme) work on Randen. Randen also has its own IC card, the Randen Card, usable only on Randen (deposit needed when issued). No touch is needed when boarding: touch when you pay as you get off. Whether contactless credit/debit cards are accepted was not confirmed. P

Getting on
Board through the front or rear door.
You pay when you get off (flat fare: adult ¥250, child ¥120). IC card users do not touch when boarding.
Getting off
Get off through the front door.
Pay in cash or with a nationwide transport IC card at the fare box beside the driver.
At Shijō-Ōmiya, Katabiranotsuji, Arashiyama and Kitano-Hakubaichō, pay at the station ticket gate instead.
Changing between the Arashiyama Main Line and the Kitano Line at Katabiranotsuji: do not pay there; pay the fare at the station where you finally get off.
