IC cards and payment in detail

The local card nolbé (a Suica-compatible card) and the nationwide interoperable IC cards work on the whole line Chūō-Maebashi–Nishi-Kiryū. Touch in and out; on board, nolbé/IC cards can be charged with notes. If your balance is short, charge it or pay the shortfall in cash (cash fare applies). For several people on one card, tell the crew before touching. P

nolbé は、群馬県内の指定路線バスや上毛電鉄 のほか、全国の鉄道などの交通機関でご利用い ただける交通系 ICカードです。

Getting on

  1. Staffed stations: Chūō-Maebashi, Ōgo, Akagi and Nishi-Kiryū (while staff are on duty). All platform-side doors open; ticket check and fare adjustment happen at the station.
  2. IC card (nolbé, Suica etc.): touch the entry reader at the gate.
  3. At Akagi, changing to or from Tōbu: touch the exit reader of one company, then the entry reader of the other, on the platform.

Getting off

  1. Pay or hand in your ticket at the station gate; IC card: touch the exit reader.

Getting on

  1. Wait at the boarding-position sign and board by the open door at the rear of the first car.
  2. Take a numbered ticket (整理券 seiriken), also with a commuter pass or coupon ticket. With an IC card, touch the reader beside the door instead (no numbered ticket needed).

Getting off

  1. Get off by the front door of the first car.
  2. Check the fare on the fare display and put the fare and numbered ticket into the fare box. ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 notes cannot be changed: have small change ready.
  3. Show commuter passes, tickets or coupons clearly with the numbered ticket. IC card: touch the reader above the fare box.
Wheelchair assistance

Head office sales section (weekdays 9:00–17:00). Stops have ramps (barrier-free entrances); where there is a gap between train and platform, the crew help. Barrier-free toilets at Chūō-Maebashi, Ōgo, Kasukawa and Akagi. Tel. 027-231-3597
