IC cards and payment in detail

IC cards (TOICA, Suica, ICOCA, manaca etc.) and contactless credit-card touch payment cannot be used on the Ise Railway section (Kawarada–Tsu). Coming from the JR Nagoya direction, buy a ticket to your destination beforehand (an other-company through ticket, 他会社連絡きっぷ), or exit at JR Yokkaichi and buy a new ticket. Coming from Kintetsu, exit at Tsu and buy an Ise Railway ticket. If you ride into the line on an IC card or card touch anyway, the Ise Railway fare is settled in cash and you get a slip (ICカード等処理連絡票) to finish the card exit at a staffed gate or support ticket machine of the company where you touched in. P

伊勢鉄道線(河原田~津)ではICカード乗車券やクレジットカードタッチ決済がご利用いただけません。

Notice (info)JR limited express Nanki and rapid Mie run through on this line. The Kawarada–Tsu section is Ise Railway, not JR: Japan Rail Pass, Seishun 18 Kippu and some other JR and Kintetsu passes are not valid. Buy an Ise Railway ticket beforehand, or pay the Ise Railway fare on board or at a station. P

Notice (info)Tickets must be routed via Ise Railway (経由:関西・河原田・津・紀勢). Tickets via Kameyama, or marked 東海会社線 or 近鉄線, are not valid on this line. At JR ticket machines (Nagoya, Yokkaichi etc.) use the other-company ticket button (他会社連絡きっぷ); at Tsu, use the JR short-distance machines at the east exit, not the Kintetsu machines. This also applies to rapid Mie riders with ordinary tickets, e.g. Nagoya–Matsusaka. P

How to ride P

Getting on

  1. Board through the rear door of the one-man train.
  2. Take a numbered ticket (整理券 seiriken) as you board.
  3. If you boarded at an unstaffed station with no ticket office, you pay the fare in cash on the train when you get off.

Getting off

  1. Before your stop, move to the door by the driver (front).
  2. Check your fare on the fare display. Put your ticket, or the fare in cash together with your 整理券, into the fare box beside the driver, then get off through the front door.
  3. The fare box gives no change. Change money at the change machine on the fare box before your stop (¥1,000 notes and coins only; ¥2,000, ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 notes are not accepted).
  4. Commuter pass holders: show the pass.
  5. At Tsu: after paying you receive a settlement slip (精算券). Hand it to the station staff at the gate.
  6. At Yokkaichi: tell the driver your destination station to buy a through ticket.
  7. Changing at Suzuka to the following rapid Mie: tell the driver.
