Shinjuku Station: lines, transfers, lockers and step-free routes

Which railways stop here

• Tokyo Metro lists the railways you can change to at Shinjuku: Toei Subway, JR East, Keio and Odakyu. [1]
• JR platforms 14 and 15 are the Yamanote Line (14 for Shibuya and Shinagawa, 15 for Ikebukuro and Ueno). [2]
• The Narita Express (and through limited expresses to Tobu lines) use JR platforms 5–6; the Saikyo and Shonan-Shinjuku lines use 1–4. [2]
• Keio has two stations here: the Keio Line Shinjuku station and the Keio New Line Shinjuku station, which is shared with the Toei Shinjuku Line. [3]
• Keio trains from platforms 1–3 do not stop at Hatsudai or Hatagaya. For those, take the Keio New Line from platform 4. [4]

Changing trains

• JR and Odakyu are linked by the "Odakyu transfer gate" (小田急のりかえ口). It is unstaffed: use the intercom if you need help. [5]
• From March 2027 (planned), Odakyu's Central Underground JR transfer gate will take IC cards (Suica, PASMO…) only. [6]
• With paper tickets or magnetic passes, use another gate such as Odakyu's West Exit underground gate. [6]
• From Keio platform 3, the stairs at the Keio-Hachioji end lead up to the Keio New Line / Toei Shinjuku Line platforms 4 and 5. [4]
• From the Narita Express platforms (5–6) you cannot change directly to any platform except the Saikyo / Shonan-Shinjuku Line. [7]
• For the Chuo, Chuo-Sobu or Yamanote lines, go via the Saikyo / Shonan-Shinjuku platform and use the elevator in the South concourse. [7]

Tickets, rail passes and seat reservations

• JR East ticket offices (Midori-no-madoguchi): underground and at the South gate, both 6:00–22:00. [5]
• JR EAST Travel Service Center (Shinjuku), at the New South gate area: open daily 10:00–17:00; the counter for foreign visitors is open 8:00–19:00. [8]
• Japan Rail Pass: exchange or collect it at the JR EAST Travel Service Center Shinjuku. A pass bought online can also be collected at reserved-seat ticket machines with a passport reader (first train–23:50). [9]

Lockers and luggage

• JR East has coin lockers at Shinjuku Station. [5]
• Odakyu Travel Center at the West Exit (outside the West Exit underground gate) is open 8:00–16:00; bags can be collected there until 19:00. [10]

Step-free routes and accessible toilets

• JR East: handle-type electric wheelchairs can go through the South or Southeast gate to the Saikyo, Shonan-Shinjuku, Chuo, Chuo-Sobu and Yamanote platforms. [7]
• Odakyu: from the South gate, elevators link the ground-level and underground platforms. [10]
• Keio Shinjuku has elevators, escalators, slopes and toilets for wheelchair users and ostomates. [3]
• Marunouchi Line: an elevator links the platform (Ikebukuro end) with the East gate; outside the gates, elevators go from the West gate to exit A12 and from the East gate to exits A6 (6:00–23:00) and B12a. [11]
