No booking needed. Passenger tickets are sold only on the day of departure; there is no passenger booking. Cars, motorbikes of 250 cc and over, and large cargo must be booked with the Mishima waiting room (tel. 099-813-7751); without a booking they may be refused.

- The islands have no shops, restaurants or ATMs and nowhere takes cards: bring enough cash and book a guesthouse (meals are included) by phone.
- In bad weather the ferry may skip a port or be cancelled. From 6:30 on the day, the village office's automated phone line (099-222-3141) says whether it sails.
- Return tickets bought on the islands are 10% cheaper.
