- All fares (foot passengers and vehicles) are paid at Sakurajima Port, in either direction: at the passenger ticket gate there, or the vehicle toll booth
- Coupon tickets and the Rapica card: the business office in the Sakurajima Port terminal and the Kagoshima Port ticket office (both 7:30–19:00)
- Discount one-way tickets (5% off) at convenience stores (Lawson, FamilyMart, 7-Eleven)
Paying: Cash, credit cards (JCB, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Diners, Discover, UnionPay), contactless card touch at the Sakurajima Port gate (Visa, JCB, Amex, Diners, Discover, UnionPay), IC transport cards (Suica, ICOCA, SUGOCA, nimoca and the other national cards), nanaco, WAON, Edy, QUICPay and the local Rapica card. - The CUTE pass (Kagoshima city buses, trams and ferry) also gives free rides on the ferry.
- No sailings from midnight to 3:59; after the last boat the terminals and toll booths close and you cannot wait inside.
- At Sakurajima Port boarding closes 30 seconds before departure.
