Booking recommended. You can buy on the day if the boat is not full, but if your date and time are fixed booking is recommended: on the website (prepaid by credit card, about 5% cheaper; go straight to the pier with the QR code at least 10 min before departure) or by phone, until 18:00 the day before.
Where to buy
- Anei Kanko counter in the Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal: come about 30 minutes before departure, and complete the purchase at least 15 minutes before even with a booking
- Online with prepayment (anei kanko website)
- Phone and travel-agent bookings are issued only on the day of travel
Paying: Ishigaki Port: cash, credit cards, e-money, transport IC cards and QR payments. Hatoma: cash only.

- The Uehara and Hatoma boats are cancelled whenever the sea is rough (they were on the check date); a connecting bus then runs from Ohara Port.
- The car ferry leaves from a different pier, about 5 minutes' walk from the island terminal (cargo office).
